Rex Bell gives instruction to a group of boys from L.A. playgrounds on the art of roping when they visited him at his Walking Box San Fernando ranch. Six boys were selected to take part in a rodeo roping contest. The winners were later given a two week vacation at Bell's ranch.

Internationally acclaimed Yugoslav scuptor, Yucca Salamunich (1901-1961), selected Johnny Mack Brown in 1941 to protray the typical 'Man of the West'. Johnny was filming "The Masked Rider" at Universal at the time of his sitting for the famous sculptor. The sculpture is currently in the Smithsonian American Art Museum but has not been on display since 2015. (Thanx to John Brooker.)
